It's Scary to Teach Truth

Today I want to be honest with you-open-even raw. Here it is.It's not hard for me to stand up and teach in front of thousands of people. However, at times, I tremble at the thought of how others will respond to what I teach. This may come as a surprise but there are times we (teachers and preachers) are afraid to teach what we see in the text. It can cause a stir - trouble, so we pull back and stick to the script.Let's be real. It's not fun to be criticized, to have your character defamed, or your intentions questioned.I happens.Personally, I've never gotten used to it.This week I teach a passages that seems to cause Christians to rear up.So today, as I prepare to teach Colossians 3:18-19, I will also prepare my heart and mind for the responses of God's people."Jesus, today I speak as your messenger approved by you to be entrusted with the Good News. My purpose is to please you, not people. You alone examine the motives of my heart." (1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT)
