They will be better because she is at the helm.

Yesterday, I shared about the unexpected results of COVID on this ministry and how our influence has multiplied significantly. None of this happens without you and your faithful support of our work.

Today, I’d like to share the story of Amanda Clark.

In 2014, my friend and board member, Ray Befus, invited Amanda to a She Can Teach training I hosted in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was hesitant and fearful that I might be one of those crazy feminists. But she trusted Ray, her pastor, so she risked it. As the class progressed, it was apparent Amanda had the gift of preaching. This truth scared her because, well, she’s a woman. Amanda was now faced with an internal theological challenge that could cost her.

Changing one’s thinking is a long obedience in the same direction. Over the next several years, I mentored, listened, shared Scripture, and encouraged Amanda to see what was already in her, challenging her to go further than she dared dream. She managed to attend every Marcella Summit! Finally, I suggested she go to seminary.

 Fast forward to 2020.

A few weeks ago I received a text from Amanda, she has accepted the role of lead pastor at The Branches Church. Amanda is an excellent leader with a unique heart for Jesus and his people; she will mother her congregation well. They will be better because she is at the helm.

Amanda talked with Brandon Hall on The Brewed Life Podcast about how she shifted from “Oh, no, not a woman” to “Yes, I’ll pastor this church.”

I’m asking you to take a moment to think about the many women God wants to use, women like Amanda, who we can reach this year and the next.

As you can see, your support is vital to The Marcella Project. Will you give this year-end to help us Expand Our Reach in 2021? So far we raised $5,550 towards our $15,000 goal.

Stay tuned for more stories in the coming weeks. Until then, thanks for everything!
